Musician and actress Rita Ora has landed a role in the final film of the late Carrie Fisher, titled ‘Wonderwell,’ following a seven-year battle to release the project.

‘Wonderwell,’ which was initially directed by Vlad Marsavin and finished by filmmaker Ben Hibon, follows the story of a twelve-year-old girl (played by Ciara Janson) who is sent to a mystical world to heal her broken family. Fisher has a cameo role in the movie, which was filmed in Italy back in 2014. Despite delays, including the announcement in 2016 that Fisher had passed away, the film is expected to be released this year.
According to Ora, who spoke exclusively to the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, the project faced multiple setbacks and obstacles along the way. “There were so many issues and the producer, Charlie Dombek, kept pushing and pushing,” she said. “I admire his resilience.”
Ora’s Role in ‘Wonderwell’
Ora plays a character named Poppy in the film, who she describes as “a strong, independent warrior.” The singer says she was inspired to take on the role because of the movie’s underlying message. “The movie sends a beautiful message of hope, acceptance, and unity and I wanted to be part of that,” Ora said in the interview.
Celebrating Fisher’s Legacy
Although Fisher passed away before the movie was released, her presence can still be felt in the film. “It’s so bittersweet because, of course, we would have loved to have had her around to enjoy it – but at the same time, it’s amazing that we get to celebrate her legacy,” Ora said.
